Tony Gwynn Owes Over $400K to the IRS

by BSO Staff | Posted on Sunday, June 10th, 2012

Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn apparently owes more than $400,000 to the government for unpaid federal taxes. According to reports, Gwynn did not pay his taxes in 2003, 2007, and 2009 which has led to his debt. Recently Gwynn has joined up with the CEO of Legendary Pictures, Thomas Tull, in a group with designs on buying the San Diego Padres from current owner John Moores. With the MLB going through their vetting process to evaluate the financial standing of the members of Tull’s group, it is unclear how this revelation will affect the group’s ownership dreams.

It is often said that paying taxes is a guarantee in life. When it comes to money, the government usually ensures that everyone pays up. One can only hope for the best for one of the greatest hitters in MLB history.
