Pictures of Dirk Nowitzki and Jessica Olsson’s Kenyan engagement ceremony has emerged.
The ceremony that took place is called a Kikiuyu wedding ceremony, often referred to as Ngurario. The short version of the Kikuyu wedding, that is meant to announce to the community that the daughter is engaged, provided relatives from both sides with an opportunity to get to know each other and conclude ruracio (dowry payments) discussions.
Olsson looks beautiful and its always special when a man can embrace his wife’s heritage and celebrate it. There will be a second ceremony in Germany for Nowitzki’s family. This is a perfect example of how people should embrace cultural differences, celebrate it. Their cultures are very strong and completely different, yet with the respect and love they have for each other it was encouraged and welcomed.
