Andy Reid Returns To Practice Day After Sons Funeral

Andy Reid is said to be at the Eagles walkthrough today at 11am, Wednesday morning, and will speak to reporters afterwards. Reid is also expected to coach the preseason opener.

Andy Reid suffered the lost of one of his sons, Garrett Reid, Sunday morning at the Philadelphia Eagles camp. Reid was only 29 years young. 900 mourners came to the funeral to say their good-byes Tuesday and remembered Reid who was said to be a joyous person.

Eagles former assistant coach John Harbaugh commented.

“A sense of [Garrett's] spirit for life … the one thing I took [from the service] more than anything was that Garrrett was a friend of everybody. The kids at school that were kind of struggling a little bit, he was their friend. The guys that were picked last for the basketball team, he was their friend. He would take everybody under his wing. That’s a trait I think he gets from Andy.”

I can only imagine what Andy Reid is going through losing a child and then returning to football, sometimes keeping yourself busy is therapeutic. This reminds me when Tony Dungy, former head coach of the Colts, lost his son James during Football season and he as well came right back to work.

The Eagles love Andy Reid and I have a feeling this will be nothing but motivation for the team to have a successful year and make Garrett Reid proud.
