Brian Urlacher is the unquestioned leader of the Bears, but may not have the legs to be the leader or player he once was.
The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that cutting the 12 year vet and 5 time all pro is a feasible option.
Urlacher will be an unrestricted free agent next season, and is due $7.5 million in 2012 if he is on the roster September 9.
He has been unable to run, practice, or take part in any of the Bears preseason up to this point.
The Bears fill in at middle linebacker, Nick Roach, has played well according to reports.
Will the Bears cut the face of their organization? Probably not.
Lovie Smith loves Urlacher, and the move would come off as disloyal and pretentious.
You do have to wonder though, with Urlacher having the ability to leave the Bears at the end of the season anyway, is it time to cut bait and start over at middle linebacker?
