USA Today is reporting that Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson may miss the whole season while recovering from Surgery in January to remove untangled blood vessels from his brain.
Patterson was ruled out of training camp, and was expected to miss the start of the regular season.
He can be placed on the reserve/non-football injury list and could be re-evaluated after the first six weeks of the season.
Head coach Andy Reid gave a statement on the matter.
“I think that’s going to be an extended time here,” Reid said. “We just have to see how that goes, if he’s able to go at all this year, we’ll just have to see how that works out. We’ll take checkups in increments here, but right now, that’s going to be a while.”
Patterson’s condition is not considered career threatening and we all hope for a speedy recovery.
The brain is a serious thing.
