Jim Harbaugh, coach of the San Francisco 49ers, is the next NFL affiliate who has publicly bash the replacement refs.
The NFL has issued “talking points” to coaches and players when speaking on the ongoing dispute between the NFL and the NFL referees, but when bad officiating overwhelms you, those “talking points” go out the window.
When first asked about the replacements, Harbaugh first stated:
“Per instructions, I will not be commenting on the officiating.”
When asked about the first-team defense only allowed one field goal, he gladly spoke his mind.
“Yeah, they’re never in until they’re in. Our guys, as they do a lot, they tightened up toward the red zone and held them to field goals. Big interference call in third quarter was some big yardage on that drive. I don’t know. It’s interesting. I don’t have the pulse on this game. What was it exactly? Us? Them? Some crazy, wild calls. Were they accurate? Weren’t they? We’ll see. I have a headache (from yelling), though. I have a darned headache. A lot them didn’t seem like they were in the ballpark.”
I didn’t get the chance to see this game, but I heard and seen from highlights that the calls were not consistent and Harbaugh was arguing with refs throughout the game. I also had the chance to see the embarrassment of the Cowboys v. Chargers and the refs had wrong calls in that game as well.
Goodell and the NFLRA need to end this dispute soon, this is becoming a tragedy and an ill-representation of the NFL.
