Later this week, Patrick Ewing is relaunching his shoes. Don’t get excited all at once!
The shoes, along with clothing, will hit retail stores in New York Friday and 33 stores nationwide before going overseas to Europe the holiday season. The first shoes to hit stores will be the “33 Hi Retro” with Ewing’s name and signature on the heel, tongue and side and completed with a “33” keychain. The shoe will retail for $100.
“I think it’s the right price point for what we’re trying to do,” Ewing said
In previous history the Ewing Brand was doing well in the sneaker world, in 1990 the Ewing brand grossed $100 million. By 1996 they released 20 different shoes but with the decline in the sneaker market he was forced to go out of business.
“We’re not going to mass produce and try to sell as many pairs as we can in the first year,” Ewing said. “We know that if we’re patient, we’ll do well for years to come.”
“I still feel like I can be a very good coach one day and want to get back,” Ewing said. “But being out of a job allows me to focus on my shoe business again.”
I hate that Patrick Ewing isn’t be recognized like he should be. I think he has a lot knowledge to give these young kids today. Just needs an opportunity.
Go buy his shoes to put a little change back in his pocket.
