Paul Pierce has spent his 14 years in Boston but at 34 years young, he’s looking to test the free agency market.
“I think I am going to play this one out,” he said. “I want to see what it feels like to be a free agent for once in my life. I think I am going to play this one out. A lot can change in two years. My body [may not] be where I want it to be, I could retire, a lot of things could happen. I love the game. I made as much money as I possibly can. It’s about winning a championship and if I feel like it’s the right thing to do, maybe so [come back]. If I solidify my third year, maybe they opt out, so it’s about keeping your options open.”
Like Pierce has said, he’s made his money, now he wants to finish on top, out of all the 14 years he’s been in Boston, he’s only won one championship which was in 2007-2008 season. Pierce’s free agency will start in the summer of next year, which means the 2012-2013 season can be the big deciding factor in weighing on his option to stay.
I can definitely see Pierce pulling a Ray Allen to go to a team that is the Celtic’s competition, such as the Lakers. He grew up in Oakland and went to school in Inglewood aka Thug Life, as well as stating he grew up a Laker fan.
Could we possibly see Pierce in purple and Gold in 2013?
