The Serena Williams Crip Walk Dance probably got more attention than it should have, but Serena should have also known that you can’t do these type of things in 2012 and it not get attention.

I am not surprised at the line of questioning, but a little surprised at Serena’s reaction.

Transcribed here is what she said.

“First of all, it was just a dance,” she said. “I didn’t know that’s what it was called. Second, why are you asking me that? Like that’s so … I mean, if anything you should be trying to ask me questions to lift me up, not bring up such things. I’m done with that question.”

It isn’t reporters’ job to ask “lift up” questions, Serena knows better than that, but I do think the crip walking is a dead story now and they should move on.
