With every day that passes Skip morphs more and more into the Rush Limbaugh of sports. To be honest Rush was fired from ESPN for similar comments about how the “black media” wanted to see Donovan McNabb to succeed.
If you really dig deeper into these comments what Skip is saying is worse.
On ESPN’s First Take this morning, Bayless, who is still irrationally angry about the Redskins drafting Kirk Cousins, made up a Redskins quarterback controversy and proceeded to debate it with the classiest of arguments:
“I’m going to throw it out there,” Bayless continued. “You also have the black/white dynamic and the majority of Redskins fans are white and it’s just human nature if you’re white to root for the white guy. It just happens in sports. Just like the black community will root for the black quarterback.
“I’m for the black guy. I’m just saying I don’t like the dynamic for RGIII. It could stunt his growth in the NFL.”
Did Skip say?
I’m for the black guy………..
Is it 2012 or 1952? I am not naive I know racism exists, but I can say this with full confidence, Redskins fans will root for the quarterback who is going to help them win games.
Doesn’t matter if he is black, white, brown, pink or Avatar. Fans root for winners, point blank. If I was a fan of the Redskins all I wouldn’t care about the color of the QB as much as his completion percentage and touchdown to interception ratio.
Skip is saying most fans are prejudice and they can’t look past race when evaluating players. That is an awful stereotype to put out on National TV with no facts to back up your claim.
I pointed out how Skip is creating controversy where there isn’t any and now he is being even more irresponsible by adding a racial element to it.
Rush Limbaugh was fired for it, while Bayless gets more airtime.
Good to see ESPN isn’t being hypocritical and yes I am being sarcastic.
