Derek Sanderson Jeter has been a New York Yankee for 18 years. When his current three year $51 million is up, he will have worn the famous pinstripes for over two decades.
Jeter and the Yankees go together like sugar and kool-aid, so it would umfathomable to imagine or see Jeter wearing another teams uniform right?
Maybe not Jeter says.
During a 15 minute question and answer session with ESPN’s Rick Reilly Jeter was asked “Peyton Manning changed teams this season after 14 seasons with one team. Could you see yourself doing that?”
“Well, if I wanted to keep playing, yes,” Jeter replied. “It’s a business. People forget that.”
Jeter learned the hard part of it being a business during contentious negotiations with the Yankees last off-season before signing his new deal.
Jeter felt low balled and disrespected.
So yes it would be just business if he didn’t feel the need to be loyal to the pinstripe uniform.
