John Madden: RGIII The Best Player In The NFL

John Madden never disappoints with bold statements does he?

Since John Madden retired in 2009, NFL commentary hasnt been… as colorful. He’s one-liners, jokes, and of course “BOOM” has definitely been missed. We are now only graced with Madden’s presence through random interviews, to hear his thoughts on present day NFL.

During a visit to SiriusXM NFL Radio, Madden spoke on RG3 and his presence in the NFL while comparing him to Tim Tebow:

“It’s darn near an impossible task to open up and play the Saints in their place,” Madden said. “I mean, no one wins down there, so I didn’t expect him to do anything like he did. But I did want to see him, and I wanted to see what he had. And at some point, I have to admit that I said this, it just came out, I said RGIII’s the best player in the NFL today. That’s what I really thought. Those words did come out.”

Madden is really calling RG3 the “best player in the NFL” after week 1? I understand beating the Saints in NO is a hard thing to do, but its only week 1. Until RG3 has a better rookie year than Cam Newton, I wont be sold on RG3.

  1. The only thing the man said is that RG3 was the best player that day. Not that he was the best period. No story here.
