Week 2 of the 2012 NFL season will end with a nice prime time battle between the Atlanta Falcons and the Denver Broncos.
This scream tons of points with two high powered offenses.
Here is my BSO Preview:
1. Julio Meet Champ:
Yes the Falcons have 2 quality wide receivers, but Julio Jones is quickly becoming the Prince of the Atl. Jones is finally flashing the athleticism and big play potential that made Atlanta trade a bundle of picks away for him in the first place. I can’t guarantee that Champ Bailey will chase him around the field, but I can predict the two will cross paths often. It’s essential the wide receiver who does not draw Bailey win his matchup and win it often.
2:Burn Baby Burn:
The Falcons have an explosive passing attack in their own right. One thing that can help cause more explosion for themselves and take away from Manning’s explosive potential would be to get Michael “the burner” Turner involved in the running game. Turner has been one the NFL’s most punishing and used rushers over the past 3 seasons. It will be crucial to use Turner effectively and keep Manning and the Broncos off the field.
3. The Grimes Effect:
The Falcons suffered a huge loss when Brent Grimes suffered that Achilles injury. Even though the Falcons employed three quality cornerbacks, Grimes was the heart and grit of the Trio. The Falcons will now look to Christopher Owens to feel that third corner roll. That will include potential matchups with Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas.
4. Huddle Up:
Lastly both teams employ a serious no huddle offense. Which defense can survive and prosper amid the hectic atmosphere that the no huddle offense provides. Ryan is just as proficient as Manning is at running it, and may have the better weapons in the battle. The Broncos have the more elite pass rushers even though neither defense is elite.
This should be an amazing night on the fast Georgia Dome turf. I expect fireworks and deep bombs everywhere and points galore.
Enjoy.
