Pundits were questioning why the New England Patriots worked out so many tight ends this off-season.

Now New England can’t have enough tight ends.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that Hernandez could miss up to six weeks with a serious ankle injury.

PFT’s Mike Florio is reporting that Hernandez is out up to six weeks with the ankle injury he suffered today. Hernandez left the stadium in a protective boot and on crutches after today’s loss.

Hernandez did not break the ankle today against the Cardinals, but the injury is serious.

The Patriots who like to employ a two tight end formation on offense, will now turn to Michael Hoomanawanui to pair with stud Rob Gronkowski until Hernandez returns.
