Cam Newton Says He Took His Job For Granted, Wants To Lead The Panthers
Self evaluation and looking in the mirror allows all of us as people to find some clarity in our lives.
ESPN is reporting that after a bye week filled with rest, self-evaluation, and talking to his father, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is ready to lead his team.
“God gives only a few people opportunities like this and it’s easy for people to take it for granted,” Newton said Wednesday. “It gave me time to reflect and appreciate this lovely, wonderful game that I play.”
“One thing he said was it’s easy for a leader to stand out when you’re 4-1,” Newton said, according to the Charlotte Observer. “But it takes a courageous leader to stand up and still lead the troops to victory when you’re 1-4.”
“And at the end of the day, playmakers are going to have to make plays. When that play allows for something to happen, it’s not a time for somebody to clutch up and go in a shell. It’s time for the flower to grow.”
“It’s time for us to start taking ownership and taking pride in this game,” Newton said. “We know everything we want to achieve is still out there for us to achieve.”
I’m rooting for Cameron personally.
I think he’s now had the opportunity to see how fast folks will jump off the bus.
He was the flavor of the month last season, now everyone loves RG3 and those same pundits think Cam is a bust.
Cameron just needs to relax, focus and get his War Eagle on. Be the Cam that got drafted number one.
It’s not about swagger at this point, but just him buckling down and taking his craft serious.
