As we reported here in August, former Minnesota Vikings first round pick Michael Bennett and two other were implicated in a tax fraud scheme.
The Boston Herald via the Associated Press is reporting that Bennett was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison.
The 34-year-old Bennett was sentenced Friday in a Fort Lauderdale federal court.
Prosecutors said that Bennett, former New York Giant William Joseph, and Louis Gacheline were illegally cashing tax refund checks in a north Miami convenience store.
The group had cashed about $500,000 checks before being caught in an undercover FBI sting.
