Today Yankees manager Joe Girardi reveled the death of his father, Jerry Girardi, who passed away last Saturday after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jerry was 81.
Girardi just now disclosed the devastating news as to not cause distraction as his team is still in the early stages of the post season. Joe has pressed on in spite of the loss and remarked “I’ll be able to do my job, because I know that’s what they would want me to do,” the ‘they’ in question is in reference to Joe’s mother who died from the same disease in 1984.
The emotional support for their skipper should play a part in how the Yankees carry on as their journey to a 28th world championship continues on. R.I.P
