Before he destroyed the Lions as a GM, Matt Millen was a very good NFL linebacker. Not a superstar, but a very solid contributor on not one, but four Super Bowl teams.
Millen commented on a San Francisco radio program that Patrick Willis had his worst game as a 49er during the loss to the Giants. Millen is an analyst now, so it is his job to make critiques, but Willis got into his feelings and made these comments when alerted about what Millen said.
“Whoever this Matt Millen guy is, I’d like to ask him if he could do what we do every day and do what we do for 16 games a year and see if he can hold up every game,” Willis said, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “I doubt he would. I doubt he would be able to consistently play at a high level as Bowman and I do. I really don’t care about what this guy has to say.”
Millen played at a high level for 12 years, doing the same thing Willis and Bowman do in San Francisco.
Athletes are some of the most sensitive individuals on the planet, who at times believe they are above any criticisms. It doesn’t matter if you are as good as Patrick Willis is, if you have a bad game, you had a bad game, just accept it and keep it moving.
Don’t say stupid stuff that makes you look dumb.
