Not that this is particularly surprising, Penn State has officially decided to part ways with accused athletic director Tim Curley. Curley is charged with perjury and failing to report a child sex abuse allegation against Jerry Sandusky.
Sandusky, a former football assistant coach, has already stood trial and will serve a minimum of thirty years in prison after being convicted of molesting ten boys.
Per SI.com: Curley was charged in November and has been on leave from the school ever since. University spokesman David La Torre said in a statement, the school notified Curley his contract would not be renewed when it expires in June.
La Torre also said the decision to not renew his contract would have no impact on Penn State continuing to cover Curley’s legal expenses. Which to date, have totaled about two million dollars.
None of this will take away the pain felt by the victims, but it is good to see Penn State cutting ties with everyone associated with this tragedy.
