It is getting close to that time for Reverend Ray Lewis.
After 16 years in the league, he is slowing down and to be honest the Ravens defense as whole has lost a step or two. He is still a very good linebacker and an excellent preacher, but how many years does he have left in the tank?
With his dedication he probably could squeeze out three maybe four more years, but the reality is his best days are behind him and his children are growing up fast, so could Rev Ray walk away after this year?
Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk seems to think so.
“Well Ray Lewis’ son, Ray Lewis III is enrolling next year at Miami,” Florio said on NBC Sports. “I talked to Ray this week and he made it clear that when his son is playing football for the Hurricanes he’s going to be on the sidelines. Not of the Baltimore Ravens, he’s going to be on the sidelines of the Miami Hurricanes.”
I am 99% sure if the Ravens won the Super Bowl he would be gone, but he might leave any way. There is nothing more left for him to prove. He will go down as one of the greatest linebackers and players in NFL history and his bust in Canton is probably already done.
Plus he has this awesome Madden Intro that will never be topped.
As the season goes on I believe we will get more hints on which way he is leaning.
