This has been a long season for Bobby Valentine, and a hard one as well. The Red Sox are at the bottom of the American League, they’ve traded away all the big time players and it seems as if everyone in Boston hates Valentine.
Today reports of Valentine’s feelings towards the Red Sox coach staff were made public. When Valentine spoke to Boston sports radio show ‘Big Show’ he admitted that he felt ‘undermined’ by the Red Sox coaching staff. When Valentine was asked why he felt his coaching staff was disloyal he replied “You asked me how I feel. That’s how I feel.” Valentine was then asked if he would like to see different coaches brought in next year if he stays put, and Valentine simply replied ‘yeah’.
CBS sports has reported that the Red Sox will in fact fire Valentine, and soon. Reports have said as soon as Thursday, the day after the regular season ends or Friday. Although Red Sox GM Ben Cherington failed to confirm or give comment on the matter Valentine’s goose has been cooked for a long time coming now, and it’s clear the Valentine is well aware of it. In almost symbolic fashion today Valentine crashed his bike in Central Park today after reading a text from Dustin Pedroia–who’s infamous for telling Valentine ‘that’s not how we do things around here’ when Valentine was just getting started. Yes, this appears to be the end of the road for Bobby V.
