Stop me if you have heard this before.

The Golden State Warriors played the Portland Trail Blazers Friday night. Warriors point guard Stephen Curry left the game in the middle of the second quarter after a player stepped on his surgically repaired right ankle. The same ankle that caused Curry to only be able to play twenty-six games last season.

After Curry did not return, many began to fear the worst about his oft-injured ankle. However, head coach Mark Jackson made it clear Curry was held out as a precaution and the injury did not appear to be serious.

Per Sports Illustrated’s Ben Golliver: Coach Mark Jackson was quoted as saying, “I’m sure if it was Game 7 he would be available. To me, it’s not that important. He’s fine. He could have went back into the game tonight. I’ll just play it by ear and make a decision.”

In a contract year, this isn’t a good start for the injury prone Curry. While many suggest he and the Warriors will agree on a new deal soon, all these ankle injuries have to be making the Franchise think twice.
