The San Francisco 49ers have made sure that their core group of linebackers is together for the foreseeable future.
NFL.com is reporting that the 49ers and linebacker NaVorro Bowman have agreed on a 5 year $45 million extension through 2018, with $25 million guaranteed.
The deal keeps Bowman, Patrick Willis, Aldon Smith, and Ahmad Brooks together through at least 2015, with a big money deal for Smith surely to come.
49ers general manager Trent Baalke released a brief statement.
“NaVorro epitomizes what we look for in a 49er.”
“We are excited that the All Pro tandem of Willis and Bowman will be together in red and gold for years to come.”
Bowman was a third round pick out of Penn State in 2010, and was named an All Pro last season.
