Here in Philadelphia, it’s cold, Michael Vick is getting his swag back, And 76ers guard Evan Turner is struggling.
Evan almighty is averaging 5 points a game so far on 28.6% shooting.
I know, I understand it’s only been 2 games, but Evan has to get it together, I mean we could have had DeMarcus Cousins.
Turner is slumping, but according to Comcast Sportsnet Philly, head coach Doug Collins thinks he has the remedy to fix it, and it involves golf.
Well kind of.
A couple of weeks ago, Sixers coach Doug Collins was watching the movie “The Legend of Bagger Vance” and it immediately put his mind in motion.
Collins thought, what if he could mentor third-year guard Evan Turner and help him get “unlocked” the way Will Smith’s character, Bagger Vance, worked with golfer Rannulph Junuh, played by Matt Damon.
Collins feels Evan is still working hard, and I agree, I watched Evan pull down 11 rebounds against the Knicks, and defend well.
“I thought Evan rebounded the ball well today,” Collins said. “But other than getting ‘unlocked,’ he just needs a breakout game. Just a breakout game where the ball goes in and he’s in a good rhythm. Right now, he’s just not in a great rhythm, but then again, our team is not [in a great rhythm].”
I can’t figure out what Turner’s issue is.
Maybe it’s the pressure of Philly, maybe it’s the Li-Ning sneakers.
Nevermind.
