The first match up between the new Brooklyn Nets franchise and the New York Knicks lived up to its pregame hype.

The game went into overtime and New York’s newest team came away with the victory, but the stars of the night weren’t on the Nets bench. The real stars sat a few feet away, Jay-Z and Beyonce were out to support their team and cheer them to victory.

Jay-Z was highly animated the entire game and he is getting very comfortable with his ownership role. Though just a minority owner, Jay-Z is doing his best Mark Cuban impersonation on the sidelines.

You can’t really fault a millionaire mogul, with Beyonce for a wife, for being the center of attention at the Barclays Center.  The Brooklyn Nets are 3-0 when Jay-Z and Beyonce are in attendance. Their 9-4 overall record is good enough to place them in a tie for 2nd in the Eastern Conference.

Owner Mikhail Prokhorov has chosen Jay-Z to be the face of The Nets and the face of Brooklyn sports… It seems to be a great decision so far.
