I spoke with a lawyer and they told me this isn’t an uncommon request if one of the parties makes substantially more money than the other party.

Recently, Deion Sanders had to pay over six figures in Pilar Sanders’ legal fees while going through a custody case.  According to TMZ, Royce who recently announced she won’t be returning to Basketball Wives has racked up over $100k in legal fees while fighting Dwight Howard over custody of their son.

Ironically, while Dwight is fighting her tooth and nail, he still refuses to acknowledge the other 5 kids he has, but I digress.  Do you believe that just because you are rich you should have to pay legal fees of the person you are battling in court?

    5 other kids? DAMN!

  2. Tia says:

If he keeps taking her back to court for petty BS. Yes he should.

How do you KNOW that what he’s doing is “petty” ?? Did you read the court docs? Do you know what they are saying to each other off the record??

Your presumptions are typical of feminist, anti-father haters that helped create the anti-father court system we have today which drives fathers out. Is that what you like? A nation of absent fathers like we got?

This is why when you get money marry a “White”, woman black girls have NO loyalty.

Here we go again with Black Sports Online MYSOGONISTIC BULLSHIT. Thanks for phrasing the question to make it seem as though Royce is trying to get something from him because he is rich.

This man is TRYING TO TAKE HER SON. Not because he cares but because he can. He KNOWS she is in NO financial position to take him on and the more he keeps dragging her to court the more her financial resources will drain.

The fact that Royce has a degree, several small businesses and is trying to make her own way OFFF COURSE IS NOT MENTIONED BY YOU.

Lord knows a BLACK WOMAN cannot find any support on this site!!! Hell YES, if this millionaire continues to subject the mother of his child to legal financial hardship out of malicious spite then hell yes, he should pay. PERIOD.

    • @ London Diva:

You’re a crazy man/father hater! 99% of the time, women go to family court and FINANCIALLY RAPE AND DESTROY a father, often for vindictive purposes.

YOU SAY that Dwight is trying to “TAKE HER son” as if she owns the child. You just incriminated yourself. The fact that he is fighting for custody is evil to you because you think women own children and they are a paycheck. That’s evil.

BTW, how do you KNOW everything that has gone on with them OFF THE RECORD? How do you know what is in the actual court docs? You ASSUME this bigoted, sexist hatred for Dwight cuz he has the audacity to fight for full custody.

Children from broken families ARE BETTER OFF in the custody of their fathers, generally. You should be hoping FOR THE CHILD’S SAKE that Dwight gets custody.

  5. Mike says:

Face it black women ya’ll make worthless wives.

Legally, it was etablished to pay attorney fees when wives had no jobs and were left in the cold. Nowadays, women who make great salaries STILL get attorney fees paid, JUST BECAUSE of the court’s anti-father bias.

We don’t live in that age anymore. Women (especially feminists) claim that they are powerful and independent, yet, they play the weak and powerless victim card when going to family court.

  7. RonJohn says:

Bottom line is we don’t know her main goal, the baby or the child support, and we don’t know Dwight’s reason for doing this, the baby or spite. I will reserve judgement on this particular situation but want to say Dwight Howard is the fakest, most insincere, attention whore I have ever seen. He makes the Basketball Wives look like shy reclusive women who run from a spotlight and are drama free.

  8. virtualvenus says:

Look, it’s obvious Dwight is doing this out of spite. He has five kids, why if he’s such a “great” parent is he not seeking custody of them too? A great father seeks to take provide the best home for ALL of their children, not just one (and i was being sarcastic when I said the best home). I’m not saying fathers can’t be the custodial parent, but in no world do I find Dwight Howard’s intentions pure. He wants to take custody of this child, but refuses to even acknowledge the other five. Either you take care of them all and be a great father or you don’t and be a terrible father…. which is it? Why single out this child and not the other five? The one thing that is different is Royce. Dwight is so transparent for his disdain for Royce. It’s pathetic and sad of how bitter he is.

  9. ddter says:

He has kids from three other “wives/sluts/etc” and probably more, Why in Hockeysticks would he care about this particular one and why are you such a slut- ho,ho,ho!? Ever heard of protection or were you stupid enough to fall for the “I love you truly” line like the other suckers he’s exploded in?! Dumb biotch, looks like it’s time to get off your slutty ace and get a job at the local Burger King

    @ VirtualVenus:

How do you know he’s not civil with the other baby’s moms? Why would you presume he doesn’t care about the others, since you don’t have the fact? Or are you all-knowing and omnipotent?

How do you know that Royce has been sweet, loving and perfect and never threatened to “take him for all he’s got” or “you’ll never see your son again”. If THAT’S true then he should get custody.

You presume she is perfect and he is evil. That’s what radical feminist manhaters do and that’s why the courts are so anti-father. I assume you are not 100% anti-father since you said fathers can be custodials (I am one). But, you sure are playing the haughty “women are better than fathers” radical feminist part.

    • virtualvenus says:

First of all. I can’t be radical feminist man-hating if i believe that men can be perfectly good custodial parents. If you read anything else about this case and I assure you haven’t, it’s him taking her to court. And it’s evident he doesn’t care about the other children cause he doesn’t even ACKNOWLEDGE them. He probably pays for them and… that’s it. It’s really telling that you give this man a pass for him not even acknowledging his other kids, but according to you “he’s a good parent.” Yeah, he’s civil with them cause he pays them and the mothers go away and live their life. Dwight hates Royce. I’m not saying Royce is sweet and good and never once did I say that Dwight was evil. Those words and phrases were NEVER in my comment. You added them because things appear to be black and white for you. I said he was bitter. I love how you never take him to task for fathering so many children, but only publicly acknowledging one (I guess that part is ok with you). You seem to be very woman hating and bitter. Who hurt you? And no one is playing whatever game you’re crying about. I fully acknowledged that men can be the sole parent. What I said and have only said was that I don’t think a man who doesn’t acknowledge his other five kids can be a good parent to one kid and that a good father seeks the best situation to ALL his children, not just the one whose mother he dislikes.. Someone as bitter as Dwight cannot be a good parent cause he can’t and won’t separate his past butt hurt (with Royce) from being a parent. To be honest, if Dwight wins custody, I see him practicing alienation of affection immediately, which, btw is a form of abuse.

        @ Virtual Venus:

Okay, now it’s OFFICIAL. You’re a complete AIRHEAD and can’t follow along and cannot use deductive reaoning. Like a typical emotional-basket-case woman, you can’t look at this logically and you are talking out of your emotions.

        (1) How do you KNOW that I haven’t read anything else on this case (presumptuous, arrogant, judgmental, know-it-all, emotional basket case).

        (2) How do you KNOW he “doesn’t care about the other children”? What???? He’s SUPPOSED to reveal them to the public for YOU to review, criticize and approve of his parenting?

        (3) How do you KNOW that the other moms are bought? You know, AT LEAST HALF the women out there are NOT emotional basket cases like you SO it’s QUITE POSSIBLE that he had kids with down-to-earth NORMAL women. They’re NOT ALL LIKE YOU, LADY!

        (4) What does that mean? That he filed? How do you know that he didn’t file cuz she said she was going to withhold the child. After 12 years of dealing with family law, the “Petitioner”‘s status does not indicate jack squat you presumptuous idiot.

        (5) No one hurt me you arrogant, god-complex-having, high and mighty, oh omnipotent, judgmental one. I’m in a relationship with the antithesis of you: a good, non-emotional, down-to-earth woman…I have good relationships with all my ex’s except my baby’s mom who abandoned the child.

        (6) What evidence do you have of your “crystal ball” prediction that Dwight will, in the future, practice alienation?

Who hurt YOU? That you so bitter toward him when ALL WE KNOW is the VERY, VERY LITTLE you mentioned above. What an arrogant, judgmental psycho you are.

I think Dwight is an idiot for having so many kids out of wedlock. But, now that the kids are here, they need both parents. And once you provide me court documents showing what the allegations and evidence are, I’m going to presume that both parents are decent, except that she IS RICH and STILL WANTS HIM to pay for her fees when she COULD HAVE settled with him. I’ve been dealing with this for 12 years. I can read between the lines on some things on this.
