On Tuesday, Laker Steve Blake was fined $25,000 for cussing at a fan during the Laker vs. Clipper game Friday night. Blake didn’t just cuss out any fan, he cussed out Lance Jackson, son of LA Gear chairman Steve Jackson.
According to Larry Brown Sports, Steve Blake met with the Jackson family at the practice facility. Jackson has strong ties to the LA Lakers with court-side seats and Jackson’s home gym is a replica of the Staples center in which Laker players and visiting teams have used. Blake personally apologized to Lance saying he’s “not that type of player”:
“It’s an unfortunate misunderstanding and a heat-of-the-moment type of thing,” Blake said after practice Tuesday. “It’s one of those things I’m not proud of, the way I handled it, and I look forward to growing as a person and moving forward from it.”
“No excuses, but it was a a spur of the moment bad decision,” Blake said. “I’m feisty and can get into it on the court, but I never took it anywhere else. That’s not what I wanted to be known for. They’re great people and they didn’t deserve to have that type of interaction with the player.”
