I’m not sure if ANY player should guarantee wins, let alone a back-up quarterback that has played sparingly this year, but that didn’t stop USC red shirt freshman quarterback Max Wittek from telling ESPN Radio that the Trojans will beat the Irish Saturday.
“We haven’t got the full game plan yet, but from what I can tell, we’re going to play our offense, whatever coach (Lane) Kiffin feels comfortable giving me. If he wants to air it out, let’s air it out,” Wittek said. “If he wants to pound it on the ground, let’s do that. Like I said, I’m going to go out there, I’m going to play within myself, within the system, and we’re going to win this ballgame.”
I like the confidence that the young man is showing, but he needs to display that on the field. Now Notre Dame has billboard material and will be on the look-out for the cocky freshman, and that’s the LAST thing you need when you’re trying to pull off an upset of the #1 team in the country.
