The UFC and is Professional boxing compete against each other on many a Saturday, so it’s no surprise that the heads and shot callers sometimes bump heads trying to gain an audience.
While speaking and promoting his product, UFC president Dana took a shot at Top Ranked Boxing honcho Bob Arum for what he deemed greedy and selfish thinking in booking Manny Pacquiao’s latest fight.
Larry Brown Sports via Boxing Scene reports that White felt their shouldn’t have been a Pacquiao vs Marquez 4, because after 36 rounds Marquez had started to figure Pacquiao out.
“I’m the biggest Pacquiao fan ever, and I bet on Marquez,” Whitetold the media on Saturday, via 5th Round. “Dumbest fight in history. Bob Arum’s a moron. You don’t take that fight, you idiot! Why would you do that fight? It’s all about the money, that’s why.
“That was a money fight, that’s what that fight was done for.”
White felt Pacquiao should have faced Timothy Bradley in a rematch of Pacquiao’s most recent loss.
“[Pacquiao] should have fought [Timothy] Bradley. Bradley’s the fight they should have done. He would have knocked Bradley out, he would have got his belt back and now he’s back in the position he should have been in.
“[Pacquiao’s] one of the best fighters in the world. He goes out and fights Marquez again? Bob Arum is the dumbest promoter in the history of the world.”
Arum has caught a bad rap for years for his handling of his fighters and only focusing on the business that is good for him.
His inability to work with Golden Boy and other promotions is the reason why we’ve never seen Pacquiao vs Mayweather.
