The New York Daily News is reporting that former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ugueth Urbina is now a free man after serving 7 years of a 14 year sentence for attempted murder.

If you recall Urbina was arrested in 2005 after he reportedly set fire to several men, and hacked another with a machete on his Venezuelan property.

Urbina was 31 when he was arrested and sent to prison at the Penitenciaría General de Venezuela (PGV) in San Juan de Los Morros, in the state of Guárico.

No words yet on whether Urbina will try to revive his Major League career.
