Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will look back on this past year as one of the worst in his professional career.
Jones-Drew held out for a bulk of training camp and really never got his feet up under him. Those feet have now failed him again.
According to Yahoo Sports Jones-Drew had surgery on his left foot Friday, and will be out up to 5 months. The Surgery comes almost 2 and half moths after he initially hurt his foot against the Oakland Raiders.
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey released a brief statement on the matter.
”We had hoped it would – as others have – heal without surgery, and it didn’t,” coach Mike Mularkey said Friday.
”Hopefully back by May, late May, early June,” Mularkey said. ”If it’s May, we’re not going to miss a lot. I don’t think it’s significant that we’re doing it now. We all felt like he had a chance to play all the way up until this week, and really we were hoping he could.”
Jones-Drew is due $4.5 million next season and it may be time for a mutual split for all parties involved.
