Nick Saban is in the midst of getting his Alabama Crimson Tide prepared to face Notre Dame for the National Title.  In between all that Saban is shooting down rumors of having an interest in returning to the NFL.

Saban was on the Dan Le batard Show today and the conversation turned to 2006 when Saban was the coach of the Miami Dolphins.

For a guy who has no interest in returning to the NFL he sure went out of his way to explain that he didn’t formally choose Daunte Culpepper over one of the greats of all time in Brees.

Saban said they ended up with Culpepper after Brees failed his initial physical.   Brees went on to sign with the Saints and you know the rest.

Culpepper was a shot player at that time, flamed out, Saban fled to Alabama and history is what we know it.
