Could Oregon head coach Chip Kelly be taking his high-powered, up-tempo offense to the NFL next season?
If you ask ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the answer is unequivocally yes.
“I will be surprised if Chip Kelly is not coaching in the NFL next year,” Schefter said while talking on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
“It would be an upset if he’s not in the NFL next year. Just on the basis of what you hear, speak with the people around the league. I think the belief among league executives is that Chip Kelly is gonna make the jump into the NFL next season.”
The next question obviously has to be, where could Chip land?
While it is safe to assume there will be many head coach openings, narrowing down Chip Kelly’s landing spots is a little bit harder. Can the spread really work full-time in the NFL and what franchise is willing to find out.
Keep an eye on Philadelphia, San Diego, and in my personal opinion the Panthers. If Carolina decides to part ways with Ron Riveria, could you imagine Chip Kelly’s offense with Cam Newton at the helm?
As always, we’ll have to keep our eyes on the situation.
