Dallas Cowboys embattled defensive tackle Josh Brent is currently free, out on bail while facing charges for intoxication manslaughter in the death of teammate and friend Jerry Brown.

Question were sure to arise involving what would the Cowboys do with Brent the person, and how would they handle Brent the player.

That question may soon be answered according to Ed Werder of ESPN.

Werder is reporting via sources, that the Cowboys will place Josh Brent on the non-football injury/illness list.  The move, as Werder explains, gives Brent access to the team facility and support from the organization.

The question now is whether or not the Cowboys will continue to pay Brent, or just allow him to be around to continue to show him support in such a difficult time.

The minute Brent pleads guilty to or is convicted of Manslaughter, the NFL at that point will step in and dish out suitable punishment.

The outrage to come especially from the public will be in regards to whether or not the league will choose to allow someone accused of manslaughter to continue to be paid.

I agree with the Cowboys support of Brent, counseling and anything else that can possibly change and save his life.  I expect he won’t be paid though.
