Detroit Tigers Hold Press Conference Introducing Torii Hunter

Homosexuality is a topic that is discussed and debated on a daily basis.  The one place where it gets swept under the rug or avoided is the sports world.

For years there has been the ongoing stigma that no well-known homosexual athlete from a major sport would ever come out the closet.

Boxer Orlando Cruz has had the guts to do it recently, but that’s about it.  One of the reason many athletes who are would never think of being openly homosexual is because of comments like the ones Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter made recently.

Larry Brown Sports is reporting that Hunter who has always been considered a good guy and lockerroom leader was asked about the topic recently by L.A. Times, and responded by saying having a gay teammate would be “difficult and uncomfortable.”

“For me, as a Christian … I will be uncomfortable because in all my teachings and all my learning, biblically, it’s not right,” Hunter told the Times. “It will be difficult and uncomfortable.”

To each his own in this day and time.  I think there are more pressing issues in society to focus on besides whether your teammate likes men or not.

As long as he doesn’t come onto you, it shouldn’t be a problem.

  1. People should be MORE CONSIDERATE towards individuals who answers “Hot-Button Topic” questions HONESTLY Though (YUP…) He shouldn’t be Shamed or Scorned becuz His opinion differs from Yours… NO Heterosexual MALE should be comfortable around a Homosexual MALE in A LOCKER ROOM Setting IMO

ONLY AN IDIOT would think that a Heterosexual MALE Should feel comfortable in SUCH A Setting SMDH

    • I’m a gay man who works out and shares a locker room openly with straight people daily. Some might privately be uncomfortable but they haven’t shared it with me. I’m sure Tori and everyone else has already shared locker rooms with gay men. To think that they haven’t is ridiculous.

      • I KNOW for a FACT That there are PLENTY of GAY Athletes in MLB (Real…) As a KID in the 70s My Uncles introduced me to Several GAY Baseball Players (YUP…)

Tori would have to be An Astronomical FOOL to believe he hasn’t SHARED A LOCKER-ROOM with another MLB Player who was ALSO GAY Though #SMDH

  2. I bet there are plenty of white guys uncomfortable with a black teammate. I don’t see them publicly broadcasting it. He is a douche. He is no better than the guy that wouldn’t want a black teammate. Somehow he thinks his particular brand of hate is acceptable.

  3. Then there is the other thing. Torii Hunter is not terribly attractive. Why is it that they guys who would never have to be worried about a come on from a gay the ones most concerned about it? He has nothing to worry about, they are most likely not interested. I bet he could spend weeks cruising gay bars and no one would want him.
