The Pittsburgh Steelers are used to being an absolute lock-in for the playoffs every year. And more years than not, they also expect to be Super Bowl contenders.
This season was marred by injuries to key players the Steelers typically always have in their lineup. One of those key components was safety Troy Polamalu who missed more than two months with various injuries. Recently, the safety shared his thoughts on the disappointing season.
Per Alan Robinson of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: “I hope this is a humbling process for a lot of guys here,” Polamalu said. “Hopefully it will make us a better team in the future.”
“It‘s amazing to me how much little things really matter, the personnel and the personality of the team, how much all that matters in camp and what you put in in the offseason,” Polamalu said, adding, “(It‘s) how you treat your teammates in the offseason, how you prepare them.”
Whether or not you agree with the statements, one thing remains clear.
Health is a huge factor in any realistic playoff run. The Steelers need their squad to stay healthy if they want to reach their lofty expectations next season.
