The Philadelphia Eagles have a coaching vacancy after Big Red Andy Reid was fired and then hired by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Former Eagles coach and Philadelphia resident Dick Vermeil has his hand in a lot of things in the area, and he would love to have a hand in bring Jon Gruden to the Eagles as coach.
As Philly.com is reporting, Vermeil was on WIP Radio when he discussed the reason why Gruden should come home.
“My choice would be Jon Gruden,” Vermeil told Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow of WIP radio, via Philly.com. “I just think he’s a helluva of football coach, and I don’t want him to make the mistake I made, to wait too long to go back. I just think he’s a helluva football coach and a great personality.”
Vermeil also suggested the Eagles bypass the normal interview and 100 questions process, and drop a ton of money on Gruden.
“I’d do more than ask,” Vermeil said. “You know what I’d do? I’d get in a bus and take the bank with me.”
Obviously Gruden loves to be courted but as rumored Gruden is waiting for the right job. The only question now is Philly the right job.
