Super Bowl week just heightened a bit, but not the way you’d expect.  Some bulletin board material was spoken by a 49ers players, but none that will motivate the Ravens.  Now you might hear some civil rights groups get riled up.

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver was being interviewed by comedian Artie Lange on Tuesday during media day.

Lange who kinda set the second year cornerback up, asked Culliver about the prospects of having a gay teammate.  Culliver took the bait, and fired this salvo per the Mercury News.

“I don’t do the gay guys man,” Culliver said. “I don’t do that. No, we don’t got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.

“Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah … can’t be … in the locker room man. Nah.”

Culliver suggested that homosexual athletes keep their sexuality private until 10 years after they retire.

In light of everything going on with Kwame Harris and his ex-boyfriend plus people fighting for the rights of the LGBT community, Culliver may have created the press the Niners did not need.

Ray Lewis may thank you though if this picks up steam.

Somebody needs to tell these guys to just use 2 words..”No Comment”

It’s one thing to say “I would be uncomfortable but work through it” or “I disagree with homosexuality but team comes before anything else”. That’s something that you can respect, OK, he holds this view but won’t impose it on others.

But to outright say gay players need to REMOVE themselves from the team? Dude. What’s wrong with you?

Not a smart guy. It’s not even really sad, given how clearly ignorant he is. All one can do is shake their head.

  3. ELove says:

There are PLENTY OF GAY DUDES playing in the NFL (And ALWAYZ HAS BEEN…) The SAD THING is that there are ALOT of DL DUDES aka CLOSETED HOMOSEXUALS playing ALSO (YUP…)

This Dude having HIS OPINION doesn’t make him IGNORANT… It just makes him Short-Sided and NON-Tolerant of BEING AROUND KNOWN Homosexuals in His WORK ENVIRONMENT (That’s All…)

What makes him IGNORANT is THE FACT he seems to not be AWARE that GAYS ARE ALREADY PLAYING In The NFL and ON HIS TEAM (YUP…)

    • Christian says:

@ELove….I totally agree with what you say. These guys are ignorant if they don’t believe there are gay/bi guys playing in the league.

As one player said in an interview I read not too long ago, many players know the gay dudes on their team…but don’t speak about it (publicy).

And what’s even sadder is that he is probably one of the DL dudes. As the saying goes, those who protest the loudest are generally ones with something to hide.
