alfred morris says hes no star

Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris is a perfect example of what a combination of hard work and humility can bring you.

Morris was a 6th round pick in the 2012 draft out of Florida Atlantic University.  We’ve reported on the fact that even though he’s in the NFL, Morris has yet to buy a new car, and still drives a 91 Mazda.

Morris essentially became a star Sunday night when pounded on the Dallas Cowboys, and helped the Redskins win the NFC East and make the playoffs.

The rookie broke Clinton Portis season rushing record of 1,516 yards in a season and finished the year with 1,613 yards on the ground.

If you let tight end Chris Cooley and anyone else tell it, Morris is now a star.

“I’ll tell you what: Alfred Morris became a star tonight,”Redskins tight end Chris Cooley said. “He deserved it. He’s a phenomenal football player.”

Morris is having none of that talk, and according to NFL.com “he’s not a star, he’s just Alfred.”

“I’m never a star. I’ll never be a star. Other people might think I’m a star, but I’m just Alfred.”

Alfred Morris is beyond refreshing.  He’s a star in my eyes, and someone I’ll continue to root for.
