Andy Reid is in the process of trying to rebuild the Kansas City Chiefs from the ground up. Reid needs a quarterback to make the process easier, and the Chiefs hold the #1 overall pick in the 2013 draft.
Question will begin to arise in reference to who Reid and the Chiefs might select. There is no Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III in this draft, even though Geno Smith and Matt Barkley are both talented.
Reid has been several times about a reuniting with possibly reuniting with Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Vick is under contract with the Eagles and due $15.5 million this coming season.
All signs point to Vick being released if he doesn’t choose to take a pay cut. Would Reid have interest in Vick if he were available to lead the charge in Kansas City.
Reid was on ESPN’s Mike and Mike In The Morning, and via The Philadelphia Inquirer, danced around the question.
Reid offered more than that.
“Michael got hurt and then it allowed Nick [Foles] to play,” Reid said on ESPN’s Mike & Mike on Thursday. “That’s why Nick had that opportunity. It wasn’t because of Mike’s play.
“He’s still property of the Eagles so I really can’t get into all that but I love the kid. That’s the main thing. Football player aside, this kid changed his life around and got himself back on track and he’s got that big heart and he’s a very kind person. He’s been through a whole lot of things and people have a hard time believing some of the things that took place, but he’s a good person.”
I really couldn’t call it on this one. It would seem like a good fit, but you have to wonder if Reid would be interested in taking a fly on Vick after such a disastrous 2012.
I wouldn’t be shocked, he loves Vick, just not sure it can happen.
