Every year when Black Monday comes around and some group of coaches gets fired, the name that comes up a lot is former Pittsburgh Steelers, and current CBS NFL analyst Bill Cowher.
Every year we come up with an accuse for why Cowher would be perfect for this job and that job, and each year now he calmly declines.
Cowher was asked yesterday about his future, and he told Newsday that he “eventually will return to coaching.”
“It would be a challenge,” Cowher told Neil Best of Newsday. “But I think that’s probably why I would get back into it, because of the challenge.”
Cowher was asked if he though he still had it, being as though the game has changed some.
“I did it for 27 years,” he said. “You don’t just forget things overnight. One thing about this job is it’s been really good because it allows me to study the game and do features on the game. … It’s not like I’m out of it. I know how the game is changing.”
I agree with Cowher in the sense that his job as an analyst keeps his mind fresh, and allows him to be a fan, analyst and scout all in one.
I would say that he needs to hurry up before the hot commodity he once was cools off.
