You may love him or hate him, but you can’t deny that Bryce Harper is young and getting it. During his rookie season in 2012, Bryce Harper hit a .270/.340/.477 with 22 homers, 59 RBIs, 18 stolen bases in 139 games, and was voted NL Rookie of the Year. However even with his new level of stardom, he isn’t afraid to live like a 20 year old.
Last night Harper took a break from advising kids to be sexy and know it, so he could attend Jimmy Kimmel Live. During a casual sit down chat between two bros from Las Vegas, Harper revealed that he is very superstitious. In addition to having an abnormal pregame ritual, Harper spoke on the guy who mooned his first major league bat, joking that if asked he would have signed his butt.
“You kinda not try to think about that. It’s hard to worry about the fans as you’re facing [Chad] Billingsly. I wish that guy would have let me sign his butt or something. That’d be kinda cool.”
When I was growing up I was really superstitious,” Harper said. “I still am. I get to the field at 12 o’clock for a 7:05 game, and it starts from there. I shower seven times while I’m at the field and I don’t even need to. Yeah, it’s bad.
“As long as I’m doing good or my team’s winning, I’m gonna keep doing the same thing. Wearing the same undershirt, I mean, I eat Eggo waffles. It has to be Eggo before the game. I mean, it’s really weird. PB and honey, I mean, I’m really superstitious.”
Eating the exact same meal and wearing the same undershirt isn’t shocking. A lot of players have crazier pregame rituals especially if they are winning. However, showering seven times a day between noon and 7 p.m. is a bit extreme and costly. The water bill has to be outrageous, but luckily Harper is in the MLB and we all know they have no problem spending money.
The 20 year old NL Rookie of the year, was as smoothed and polished as his blown out mohawk, making his first late-night television appearance memorable- partially thanks to his mohawk.
Great job, bro!
Endorsement opportunities should be coming in 3… 2… 1
