Chip Kelly has been busy since being named Philadelphia Eagles head coach, and today he got down to what may end up being his most important business in this early process.
Pro Football Talk is reporting via sources with knowledge of the situation, that Chip Kelly and Michael Vick had their first offical meeting, encounter, or whatever you want to call it.
There was no resolution regarding his status or contract issue nor will there be any in the near future. I think it was just two men feeling each other out, with Kelly most importantly, getting the opportunity to see where his possible starting quarterbacks head is at.
February 6, $3 million of Vick’s $15.5 million salary will be guaranteed. It’s assumed that the Eagles won’t pay that if they plan to cut Vick, but the money could be used as a good faith gesture towards both parties in get Vick to agree to playing at a lower salary.
If Kelly can convince Vick that he can flourish and return to a Pro Bowl status in his offense, maybe Vick changes his mind about trying to see what he can get on the open market.
