Up until now, we were all under the assumption that Ray Lewis was calling it quits after Sunday’s Super Bowl. Now, it appears that might not be the case.
At least, if you ask long-time teammate Ed Reed.
Per NFL.com’s Chris Wesseling:
Cynical NFL fans can be forgiven for questioning Lewis’ commitment to the decision. In fact, long-time teammate Ed Reed warned reporters gathered in New Orleans not to be “so sure” that Super Bowl XLVII will indeed be the future Hall of Famer’s last game.
“Maybe he’ll play 10 games next year,” added Reed.
How much validity you want to put into Ed Reed’s comments is up to you. Everything coming from Ray himself however, indicates he still plans to retire after the Super Bowl.
