Ray Lewis is going to make a lot of money as a motivational speaker in a few weeks when his playing days are over. We all know Ray Lewis the leader, the tackling machine, and premier middle linebacker in NFL history.
Many of our younger NFL fans are not aware of the Ray Lewis that fought for his life in a double murder trial in 2000. Lewis was eventually charged with obstructing justice after he and two gentleman he was with at the Super Bowl were charged with murder after a fight outside an Atlanta nightclub.
Lewis has lived an inspiring life since that tragic evening, but people were still affected. Today after the Ravens defeated the Broncos in one of the most thrilling playoffs games in league history, Lewis was interviewed by CBS Sports sideline reporter.
In the midst of his past and all the violent things we have going on in today;s society, Lewis belted out these comments.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.
Lewis probably was no even thinking about the use of the word weapons and how it might coincide with the fact that their were weapons used in the same case he was on trial for.
Lewis may not have also been aware of the fact that he used weapon and the lord in the same comments also. Which is similar to the same way crazy psychopaths try to explain why they decided to wake up and murder a bunch of people.
My point is I’m not judging Ray Lewis, because I have my own opinion of him and I’m aware of what he was trying to say. Was Lewis though out-of-bounds for using “Weapons” and the “Lord” in the same phrase given his past, and all that is going on in the world today?
