When it rains it just seems to pour, especially if you’re Notre Dame Football. Another bizarre hoax has put the school’s football team back in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
High school running back recruit, Stanley Williams, had verbally committed to UGA a few years ago, but had been scheduled to visit Notre Dame’s campus last weekend. Stanley had glowing reviews in regards to the visit, stating the following:
“The visit went great…It was great to experience something new and different…I had been looking forward to it for awhile, and it was great to just get out there and see a new place. I plan on getting up there a couple more times in the future.”
There’s just one little problem–he never even went. Williams had stated that quote to Blue and Gold Illustrated and were soon after called out by Deadspin for again, being duped. The magazine has since put forth a disclaimer explaining the ‘hoax’, but the damage has been done.
Another black eye to what was supposed to be a magical season for the Irish. Everything from the BCS Championship on has just been one weird headache after another.
