J.R. Smith has gone through some ups and downs the past few seasons, and many questioned why the Knicks chose to resign him.
Smith has rewarded the Knicks with exceptional play off the bench this season and is in the running for the 6th man of the year award at the end of the season.
Smith is not focused on that, and according to Marc Berman of the New York Post, Smith wants to be, and thinks he should be an All-Star this season.
“My eyes are on being an All-Star, honestly,’’ Smith told The Post late Thursday after the Knicks hammered the mighty Spurs. “I’m not focusing on Sixth Man. Sixth Man is more long-term, honestly, end of the year. My individual goal right now is All-Star, then I’ll think about the Sixth Man. I’m trying to be that All-Star coming off the bench for my team.’’
Smith is not even on the All-Star ballot and voting ends Jan 15.
