Funnily enough, Rex Ryan once lambasted former Chargers head coach Norv Turner for his inability to win a Super Bowl. Even saying, “I think I would have had a couple of rings. I’m telling you, those teams were loaded. There’s no question about it,” when asked what would have happened if the Chargers hired him instead.
Not to be forgotten about, Truner replied, “I hadn’t seen his quote and I was a little bit surprised by the call, and after I saw the quote I didn’t have the chance to ask him this, but I was wondering if he had those rings with the ones he’s guaranteed the last couple of years.”
By glancing at these quotes, one could safely assume these two aren’t on each others Christmas list.
However, it appears they could be working together very soon.
While current offensive coordinator Tony Sporano is still on the staff, we can safely assume he will not return next season. If Rex Ryan has it his way, sources indicated Norv Turner would be the man to replace him.
As the job isn’t even technically open yet, it remains to be seen whether or not this will actually materialize. But, it would certainly make things even more interesting for the never dull Jets.
