Damian Lillard was the 6th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Weber State. Even though he was a high lottery selection, I’m not sure how many people figured he’d in the rookie of the year conversation.
Lillard is having a killer first half of his rookie NBA season, averaging 18.2 points and 6.5 assists per game, while shooting 35.4 percent from three.
Lillard is impressing everyone with his skills and leadership, even the King of the NBA. LeBron James is impressed with Lillard, and told the Oregonian, Lillard “is the Rookie of the Year.”
LeBron James dubbed Lillard the Rookie of the Year.
“He’s never out of his comfort zone,” James said of Lillard Wednesday. “He’s never too fast; he’s never too slow. He plays in his own lane.”
High praise from someone who should know.
