The best case scenario for Te’o is that he knew that his dead girlfriend wasn’t dead for a month and still keep milking her story for everything it is worth.
According to TMZ, that is exactly what Te’o is telling close friends that happened.
He’s reasoning for lying is because he didn’t want to become a distraction while his team was preparing for the BCS Championship game (I don’t think it would have mattered in retrospect).
TMZ says Te’o struggled with how to tell people what had happened before coming clean to his coaches about a week before the Championships game.
It is a plausible scenario until you see how many times Te’o speaks about his dead girlfriend without anyone asking him, even after he knew he wasn’t dead.
So, there are still many questions that need to be answered.
